Migration Timing

Calving Season (January–March)

The herds gather in the Ndutu plains of the Southern Serengeti. Over 8,000 calves are born daily. Predator activity is extremely high.

River Crossings (July–October)

The herds move north to the Mara River near Kogatende. Dramatic river crossings as wildebeest brave crocodile-infested waters. Peak: August–September.

Central Serengeti (Year-Round)

The Seronera Valley offers excellent game viewing regardless of the migration season. Highest density of big cats.

Entry & Health

Tourist Visa

Required — $50 ($100 for US citizens). Apply online via the Tanzania e-Visa portal.

Yellow Fever & Malaria

Yellow Fever vaccine mandatory if entering from a risk country. Malaria prophylaxis recommended.

Travel Insurance

Comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory. Must cover medical evacuation from remote wildlife areas.
