Machame: The Whiskey Route

Expect steeper grades through rainforest and giant heather before traversing the Shira Plateau. Machame’s “climb high, sleep low” profile helps acclimatisation but summit night from Barafu is a straight shot of 1,200m gain.

Lemosho: Western Exposure

Eight days give your body time to adjust while the route crosses the Shira Ridge with sunrise views over Mount Meru. Camping at Moir Hut adds an acclimatisation hike before joining the Machame path at Lava Tower.

Northern Circuit: The 360° Traverse

Nine days sweeping around the northern shoulder mean fewer teams, more wildlife sightings, and a calm School Hut staging area before summit push. Descend via Mweka to keep knees safe.

How We Match You To A Route

  • Review altitude history (Everest Base Camp, La Paz stays, etc.).
  • Assess training window and ability to add acclimatisation hikes.
  • Advise on private toilet tents, hyperbaric chambers, and medical kits.

Message our summit desk with your target dates and group size; we will hold permits, organize a lead guide, and build a safari extension around your climb. Preview sample trekking combos inside our adventure portfolio if you want to pair Kilimanjaro with a Serengeti finish.
